What it does

Hum MCP lets the AI apps on your Mac use your Hum board. Ask your coding assistant or chat app what’s still open, add an idea, tick one off or tidy a project, right from the app you’re already working in. It’s the same as talking to Hum, just typed.

MCP is the standard way AI apps connect to other apps. Hum MCP works with any app that supports it over HTTP, such as Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code.

What you need

Set it up

The quick way: let your AI app do it

Turn on Hum MCP first (step 1 below), then paste this into Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or any AI app that can edit its own settings:

Please add the Hum MCP server for me. Hum is a Mac app; while it's open it serves MCP over Streamable HTTP at http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp. There is no API key or sign-in.

Add it to your own MCP settings, keeping any servers that are already there:
- Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user hum http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp
- Cursor: in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, add "hum": { "url": "http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp" } under "mcpServers"
- VS Code: run "MCP: Open User Configuration" and add "hum": { "type": "http", "url": "http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp" } under "servers"
- Any other app: add an HTTP (Streamable HTTP) MCP server named "hum" with that URL

Then tell me if I need to restart or reload you. Once Hum is connected, list my Hum projects to check it works.

Or set it up yourself:

  1. Turn it on. In Hum, open Settings › MCP and turn on Turn on Hum MCP. Also turn on Open at login in Settings › General, so your AI apps can always reach it.
  2. Add Hum to your AI app. Use the address http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp. Settings › MCP has a Copy button for each of these:
    Most apps (the app’s MCP settings file)
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "hum": {
          "url": "http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    Claude Code (run once in Terminal)
    claude mcp add --transport http hum http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp
    VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json)
    {
      "servers": {
        "hum": {
          "type": "http",
          "url": "http://127.0.0.1:47530/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
    Then restart the AI app, or reload its MCP servers.
  3. Try it. Click Test connection in Settings › MCP. Then ask your AI app: “List my Hum projects.”

Things to ask

What’s still open in my Website project?Add “try a darker header” to Website.Mark the login bug done.I just fixed the signup emails. Tick that off.Move the pricing ideas into a new project called Launch.Merge the two ideas about onboarding.Undo that.

Your AI app reads your board first, so you can describe ideas the way you remember them. Hum’s own wording rules apply, so ideas stay short and tidy.

Good to know

Privacy

When an AI app uses Hum MCP, Hum gives that app your ideas and projects, and saves the changes it asks for. What the app does next, such as sending them to its own AI service, is covered by that app’s privacy policy, not Hum’s. Hum MCP doesn’t use Hum’s AI voice service. See the Privacy Policy.

If it doesn’t work

“Can’t connect” or “server not found”. Check that Hum is open in the menu bar and Hum MCP is on, then click Test connection.

“Port 47530 is used by another app”. Quit the other app and click Try again in Settings › MCP. Hum always uses this port, so your AI app’s settings stay the same.

My AI app only accepts commands, or needs an https address. Some apps can’t connect to apps on your own Mac yet. Use one that supports MCP over HTTP.

“Hum is offline”. Hum needs the internet to read and change your ideas. Try again when you’re back online.

Something else. Write to support@sayhum.com with what your AI app said.
